Mount Batulao, Nasugbu, Batangas (811 MASL)

Jump-off point : Evercrest Golf Course, Nasugbu, Batangas
LLA : 14.0408 N 120.8011 E 811 MASL
Days required/Hours to summit : 1 day/2-4 hours
Specs : Minor climb
Difficulty : 3/9 - New Trail, 4/9 - Old Trail
Trail class 3 with 60-70 degrees assault

It is our first time to do night trekking.  Make sure you have with you a head lamp.  We only brought 2 flash lights. The easy trekking became so difficult for us because my husband is already pulling me to trails. I don't have my own flashlight,   I gave it to my son who needed it more.  We were holding hands for two hours and if he wasn't holding me, I might have just fallen to a cliff.  With God's help, we arrived safely at Camp 1 for registration.  There is a comfort room at Camp 1. We decided to pitch our tents  at Camp 3.  Camp 2 has more trees and is a better place for pitching tents with less cold winds at night.

Woke up with this scenery

Mount Batulao can be easily accessed from Manila.  Go to the new terminal going to the south at Coastal Mall in Parañaque.  Ride buses going to Nasugbu, Batangas at Php104 fare.  Tell the conductor to drop you at the junction in Evercrest Golf Course. As soon as you arrive at Evercrest, a lot of tour guides will offer their services at Php300 only.   You can ride a trike to the farthest it can reach, but we still walk up to the jump-off to warm up our legs.  There are a lot of sari sari stores where you can buy your food and water before finally starting the trail.

The trails are initially rough and slumpy roads, and going here on a rainy day will make this trail so difficult.  The night trek will be so easy if only I can see the roads clearly.  From Evercrest to the official jump off, it already took us an hour to reach the place. And from the official jump off point to the "Mini Stop", it took us 40 minutes trekking the kubo.  We decided to stay here for a while to finally eat our dinner.  There are night trekkers who stopped at the kubo, and they decided to join us trekking the "Old Trail" first.

At exactly three hours from Evercrest Golf Course, we finally reached Camp 1 where we have to register and pay Php20.  There is a restroom available here and you only have to pay a small amount if you need to use water to flush something, hehe=).  There are also drinking water available at Camp 1 sold at Php15 per 1.5 liter.

We spent the night at Camp 3.

At the peak, the rocky landscapes climax into beautiful formations. Set in the backdrop of the plains of Cavite and Batangas, the photo ops are excellent. Views include the peninsula of Calatagan (SE), the coastline of Nasugbu (E), Mt. Talamitam (ENE), the mountains of Maragondon, Cavite (N), the Tagaytay highlands (WNW), Taal Lake (W), behind it, Mt. Maculot (WSW), and the vast Balayan Bay (S).
